This was an interesting place as it was where banking started in China. We had a very knowledgeable guide (Miss Lu) who explained how they used to keep money safe, how the first "cheques" were controlled and how monies were transferred.

This is apparently a must see according to the Lonely Planet but it's really just a few rooms with not much in them.

Well worth the visit and some interesting facts about how banking started and cheques developed. It was very crowded though so go early

It's quite similar to Rishengchng. If the time is tight, this can be skipped. Many introduction materials are only in Chinese.

This site details the importance of Pingyao to the financial history of ancient China. All the old computational equipment is there and the historical descriptions are indeed fascinating. Accountants will enjoy immensely, but the rest of us will find a useful setting here.

Very interesting exhibits over quite large area emphasising the importance of this first Bank in China
