CiaoCherry

Our Taxi driver recommend us to visit this place called (Nei Wan Old Street). You can reach here by Train (Nei Wan Station). There are a lot of local food to buy and eat (not expensive). We tried their local Hakka dishes, its not expensive (100NT per dish). But we can only comment that different type of Hakka food have their style. I feel that it still not too bad.Along the street, we had wild ginger flower dumpling, yum cake (must try), dry apple chips, biased food and etc. There is one museum displayed all the weird incident (things), you can visit if you are interested.Quite interesting - its a fruitful trip for us.

We never heard of it during our Taiwan trip search, however, through recommendation of our driver, we visited (Nei Wan Old Street). It is like a night market but during the day time with many special products produced there. Very different to Night Market. We spent 1 hour there, but didn't get enough of it. We could easily spent 3 hours there. The most famous product is their sticky rice. They have a special flower ingredient in it, very nice I have 6 of them in a roll - Not huge sticky rice though but still amaze how much I have eaten. The other product that stand out was their dried fruits and vegies. Kids and Adults loves them. The food there is very cheap. Highly recommended if you are on your way from Taipei to Tai Chung or travel to somewhere nearby.

Neiwan has the same problem with Beipu: it's too commercial.Furthermore, it's worse. It is one of the most disappointing old street that I've been to in Taiwan. There is no culture at all. Just stores selling things you can find anywhere in a regular shopping area. If there is a vote about the worst old street, Neiwan could mostly be listed on.

I like the street very much especially I miss the wild ginger flower dumpling, you must try it and it only cost TWD15 per pcs, I didn't try the fried wild ginger flower as I am too full for trying all the food there. Wild ginger flower make the streeet famous in Taiwan I believe.

It's been ages that I have not visit Taiwan. Today I would like to share my current visit to Neiwan Old Street which is in Hsinchu to my trip advisor member. This trip I m staying at Zhubei so from Zhubei I need to take one stop to North Hsinchu and transfer to another train to Neiwan. ( North Hsinchu - Zhudong transfer again to another train Neiwan Station). On my way to Neiwan the scenery was great it's really a country side view . For those who like sight seeing instead of shopping I would like recommend this place. But don't expect too much coz it's just a small town which you can really enjoy their local food n some souvenir . It's a nice place to take picture . It's so surprise I manage to see some very old tidbit which I ate during my childhood times it's about 20 over yrs. So for those who like to bring back their childhood memories I think can try to make a visit to Neiwan when you are in Taiwan. Old times favorite are always the sweetest memories to bring back. I have a great time with my boy during my visit in Neiwan.

A strange and kitschy little place, Neiwan Old Street was rammed with domestic tourists. Guangji Temple, the old theater and the train station were nice photo op's, as was the random Gizmo from Gremlins (like i said, this place is random). Loads of food available...i tried the ginger-lily glutenous rice that is the apparent signature dish here (i might be wrong on that?) If you are short on time in Taiwan perhaps give this place a miss, if, like me, you have time on your hands come and take a look. 3.5 stars.Public transport: HSR to Hsinchu, transfer to normal train...neiwan is last stop, 41NT.Car:National 68, Zhulin interchange, Prov Hwy 3, County Hwy 120.
